Location
tleil is located in the
middle of the northern zone of akkar district.
it is the gateway to the
drayb region.
altitude: 355 meters.
distance from halba: 9 km. distance from tripoli: 34 km. distance from the
capital beirut: 120 km.
it commands a nice view of
akkar mountains and plain, up to the mediterranean sea.
it is bounded by haytla in
the north, charbila in the south, amar baykat in the east, and stretches in
the west to saydanya and ghzayli.
area: five million square
meters approximately.
the international highway to
syria and bekaa province crosses tleil.
soil:
most of it is dark, rich in
calcium phosphate, and lacks organic material.
rocks:
basaltic hard bluish rocks,
with some redness in the depth.
the basalt breaks to create a
dark fertile soil fit to be planted with all kinds of cereals.
on the other hand, these
rocks are used in construction.
climate:
in view of its location
between the sea and the mountains, winter is cold, very rainy, with fast
eastern wind blowing fast.
it seldom snows.
spring is temperate and
colorful.
summer is hot, humid, with
cold breeze that freshens the air, sometimes.
fall is temperate despite the
occasional cold eastern wind.
sources:
the underground of tleil is rich
in subterranean water which springs naturally in the form of sources or
artificially when digging wells.
there are many sources in the
village, which were used by our ancestors for irrigation, drinking and for
other needs purposes.
lakes:
these are pits dug by the
population to gather rain water in order to use it in hot and dry periods.
valleys:
the main valley is called
tleil valley, stretching from marj quarter to masrin quarter in the west.
south of the village is
moussa valley, which separates tleil from charbila.
crops:
tleil soil was unirrigated,
fit to be planted with all kinds of cereals, like draybian wheat, legumes,
broad beans and non irrigated tomato.

flora:
oaks (previously used in
construction), gall oaks, maple trees, fig trees, and
"sajrak" .
lately, a lot of land was
reclaimed and planted with olive trees, almond trees and vines.
in conclusion, we can say
that tleil is an example of the typical temperate moderately high lebanese
villages.
